About the African Pavilion
The African Pavilion traces its origins to more than ten years ago, when its founder embarked on a mission to enhance the visibility and structure of African and diaspora literatures at the Salon International du Livre de Paris. Through this initiative, a unique platform was created to celebrate the richness and diversity of African voices under the banner of the Pavillon des Lettres d'Afrique.
In 2017, the Agence Culturelle Africaine was established, marking a significant milestone. This led to the creation of the African Pavilion, a label dedicated to showcasing African creativity across multiple artistic disciplines. While its initial focus was on literature, the African Pavilion expanded its scope in 2019 to include audiovisual and cinema, establishing a presence at renowned events such as the Cannes Film Festival, CANEX WKND, the Red Sea International Film Festival, and the Annecy International Animation Festival.
Today, the African Pavilion is a dynamic hub for the arts, championing African excellence in cinema, literature, video games, gastronomy, fashion, and innovation. Its mission is to amplify the presence of African creators on the global stage, fostering connections, collaborations, and opportunities for cultural exchange.
Over the past decade, the African Pavilion has positioned itself as a key player in major cultural events, empowering creatives, artists, and innovators from across the continent and its diaspora.
