Literature

African literature has developed from sources and influences that originated both within and outside of the continent. One major source, Africa's rich tradition of oral stories and histories, is much older than the continent's written literature.
The African Pavilion or "Le Pavillon des Lettres d'Afrique" at the Salon du Livre in Paris helps showcases African literary figures whose work has raised the profile of, and increased knowledge about, the continent’s literary contributions throughout the world.
